Kortney Hause impressed on his first start for Wanderers
AGE is just a number for Gareth Ainsworth as the Wanderers boss was left impressed by Kortney Hause's debut display.
The 17-year-old defender impressed on his first appearance at Adams Park as his calm approach saw him deal effectively with Morecambe's wily front pairing of Richard Brodie and Kevin Ellison in Saturday's 2-2 draw.
It was the first time Hause had started a game, having made two substitute appearances in cup matches, and Ainsworth predicts a good future for the centre half.
He said: "Kortney did superbly the other night at Yeovil and earned his right to be in the team today, and I thought he did magnificently for a 17-year-old.
"There was no time Kortney got outclassed in any way.
"You have to look at the future and think things are bright for Kortney Hause, and hopefully he'll be another one who'll flourish under myself."
Ainsworth added: "He's actually a second year academy player by rights. He's not even officially old enough [to sign a professional contract] - if we had a youth team he'd still be in that youth team, which is the crazy thing.
"That shows what we've done here - you'll get chances under me, it doesn't matter about age and experience, it's ability and form."
Hause tweeted after the game: "Big shout outs to Gaz and Dobbo for trusting me, hopefully I done them proud."
