Brilliant Britt Assombalonga continues to impress as he takes his Southend United tally to 12 in 22 games
Watford forward Britt Assombalonga continues to impress on loan at Southend United as he helped the League Two side secure a 3-1 victory over Rochdale.
Assombalonga scored the equalising goal after 57 minutes to start the comeback for the Shrimpers, who are in fourth position and three points off the automatic promotion places.
The Hornets youngster has been in great form; he has hit the back of the net three times in his last three league games and is currently the fourth leading scorer in League Two with 11 league goals in 20 appearances. Assombalonga, who made his debut for the Watford first team against Coventry City in March, is enjoying life at Roots Hall so far this season.
He told the club's website: "Things are going really well at the moment and we certainly can’t complain too much.
"As a team we’ve got 11 goals in three games and that’s down to the whole team."
Assombalonga has also been talking about what could happen when he heads back to Vicarage Road in January.
He said: "You never know, the manager might give me a chance. But at the moment I’m really enjoying myself at Southend."
Southend manager Paul Sturrock has also been impressed with Assombalonga this season.
Sturrock commented: "Britt works so hard and he just keeps churning the goals out."
The young Watford striker, whose current loan expires in January, now has 12 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for the Essex side.
