TWO second half goals booked Bromley a home fixture against Boreham Wood in the next round of the FA Trophy as the Lillywhites beat Staines Town 2-0 in last night’s third qualifying round replay.

They won the tie more easily than the final score suggests, as they completely outplayed their Conference South colleagues, particularly in the first half.

Ian Daly saw his shot saved in the sixth minute before Danny Waldren and Sanchez Ming went close moments later.

A mistake by Liam Harwood allowed the home side’s Troy Ferguson a shot at goal which went wide after 16 minutes, before Bromley were on the attack again.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois headed wide, Ali Fuseini was off target with his 20-yard drive and Daly did well to pull down a Ming cross before swivelling to shoot wide.

Jordaan Brown nearly caught Bromley napping when he fastened onto a quickly taken free-kick, but his volley from the edge of the area skimmed the bar with keeper Joe Welch struggling.

Elliott Buchanan, Marlon Patterson and Tony Finn all had chances to put Bromley ahead, but the miss of the game came on the stroke of half-time.

Finn put Waldren through on goal and as Staines keeper Jack Turner advanced, Waldren poked a shot through the custodian’s legs, only for the ball to roll against the post before it was cleared by Matt Drage.

The second half was more even than the first, but Bromley went ahead within three minutes of the restart.

Finn rounded Turner to net into an empty goal after receiving the ball from Daly near the halfway line.

Welch kept Bromley’s lead intact with a full length dive to push Ferguson’s 30-yard volley around the post following a corner, while Turner tipped over Finn’s free -kick at the other end shortly afterwards.

Staines defender Lewis Ferrell sent a long cross into the danger zone where Louie Theophanous chested the ball down before turning and volleying, which Welch did well again to push around the post.

Welch was called into action again when he dived at the feet of substitute Scott Taylor, but this was the last threat from the home side as Bromley resumed their dominance.

Joseph-Dubois shot wide when it appeared to be easier to pass inside to a better placed colleague, sub Ali Chaaban saw his shot palmed away by Turner before Waldren’s deflected shot was brilliantly palmed away by the home keeper.

The game was gifted to Bromley on 88 minutes when Ferrell passed across field straight to Chaaban, who ran forward to chip the advancing Turner for a great individual goal against his former club.

Bromley return to league action on Saturday at home to Billericay, kick-off 3pm.
