WANDERERS have claimed the Johnstone's Paint Trophy result of the round award for their giantkilling victory over Portsmouth.

Blues landed the gong for the southern section thanks to a shock 3-1 win at Fratton Park against the 2008 FA Cup winners.

Joel Grant put Wanderers in front inside 13 seconds and a brace of goals from Dean Morgan, either side of an Izale McLeod strike for Pompey, sealed the win.

Grant's opener also made the ten goal shortlist for the goal of the round award.

Sheffield United took the crown for the northern section as they beat Notts County 4-1 at Meadow Lane in front of the TV cameras.

Paul Farrell, Johnstone’s Paint Trophy sponsorship manager, said: "There were a lot of entertaining games in the second round and it was a difficult choice to narrow it down to two stand out performances. But Sheffield United’s victory was very impressive and Wycombe’s success at Portsmouth was very much the shock of the round."

Wanderers will receive their prize ahead of their area quarter final tie away to Yeovil on December 4.
