Bloomfield: I don't know how I'll get through it

WANDERERS ace Matt Bloomfield says he doesn't know how he is going to get through the next six months without any football.

The former Ipswich Town trainee will miss this season's climax and the first half of next season after being sidelined with a cruciate injury.

He said: "It's going to be a nightmare. I don't know how I am going to get through it but I will do because I have got no choice.

"I have just got to get on with it and get my head around it."

He picked up the injury towards the end of Blues' 2-0 win over Darlington when he went in with their keeper chasing a third goal.

He said: "There is no blame attached to the goalkeeper at all. If anything it was my fault.

"I saw the ball there and wanted to get it before the goalkeeper. I thought I could score.

"I know people have said I could have left it but that's not me. It is part of my game to go for balls like that and if I was in the same situation again I am sure I would do the same thing."

But he admits he is paying a big price.

He said: "It's going to be so hard missing the rest of the season and knowing that I can't be out there helping the lads.

"I went to Wembley to see Fabio Capello's first game as England manager with Gary Holt and I said to him just imagine that we could be back here playing in a couple of months in the play-off final.

"I will be gutted to miss out on such a big day but I will still be cheering the lads on.

"I don't know how I am going to get through until the end of the season.

"It will be torture. But I will and I will come back stronger from it."

And he plans to lean on team-mate Mike Williamson for support.

Williamson has just returned to the team after suffering a similar injury.

Bloomfield has to wait another three weeks before his knee settles down and he can have the operation he needs before starting the long road to recovery.

Matty I think I can speak for all the supporters when I say you will be missed after all your hard work this season. We all look forward to seeing you back again as soon as possible, once again all the best to you.
