Thornley enjoys doubles success

WEST Wickham tennis player Sean Thornley teamed up with partner David Rice to win the latest stage of the AEGON GB pro-series tour.
Thornley and Rice had been beaten in the previous two weeks by Chris Eaton and Dom Inglot in the tour, but made it third time lucky when Eaton and new partner Lewis Burton were beaten 6-2, 6-3.
The West Wickham ace said: “We have had a good three weeks, getting off to a great start to the year, and today was particularly pleasing to capture the title after two runner-up spots.”
Thornley and Rice will now take a rest week before embarking on some ATP challenger events in mainland Europe.
