Bexleyheath and Belvedere Mens 1st XI had a big game facing top of the league Marden Russets on Saturday.
BBHC were not going to let Marden's impressive 12 wins from 13 have any effect on their attitudes, especially after dominating Horsham last week. The game started as expected with striker Tom Golding firing shots in from all angles and Marden coming back fast on the breaks to which the solid line of the BBHC defence comfortably controlled. After some tactical genius from David Pyke, BBHC managed to trick the Marden defence in a penalty corner and allow Sukh to fire a rocket to the roof of the net and make it 1-0 at half time.
The second half showed BBHC’s determination with all players working together and getting back for the team when Pyke got a yellow for lashing out after being tripped, but the effort from BBHC was over hauled by a soft goal to make the game 1-1. BBHC had 2 further chances with Tim Golding taking both but were finely saved by the Marden keeper.
The game finished 1-1 with striker Tom Golding for his efforts being made man of the match and BBHC taking 2 points away from Marden Russets.
