Wasps back RGS Wycombe star

Jack Wallace Jack Wallace

LIKE almost every other back in the Premiership, Jack Wallace has been eclipsed this season by the explosive introduction of Christian Wade.

His former Royal Grammar School Wycombe team-mate raced to the top of Aviva Premiership try-scoring charts before fatigue and then injury took its toll.

On Sunday, Wallace took his place on the wing for just his third start of the campaign, but the club have told him not to panic.

Defence coach Rob Hoadley said: “He’s got plenty of time yet, he just needs to stay fit for a long period and get a run of games together.

“He’s had terrible luck, every time he gets a bit of run together his progress is disrupted by a small knock, nothing serious.

“But he has got great potential. He’s very good in the air, he’s very brave, he runs hard, he tackles hard and he’s very steady.

“You always get Jack doing extra video work for his positioning and that’s come on a lot, and Hugo [Southwell] has been a great influence on him too, he’s a guy with 60 caps and Jack has been able to pick his brains.

“You can never really tell for sure, but he’s very much got the potential to make it. He’s someone that is always going to get the most out of his ability and that’s a great trait to have.”
