BEN Jacobs will not be undercooked when Wasps' new season gets going against Harlequins at Twickenham on September 5.
The new Wasps centre has been training at the club for the past six weeks and says the new campaign can’t come quick enough.
He said: “I’ve been back for six weeks and gradually the boys have been coming back in dribs and drabs.
“It’s been great actually. Everyone has made me feel really welcome. I feel like I’ve been here two or three years and I can’t wait to start now.
“Gradually the intensity has gone up and it’s getting pretty full on now, but the focus has been on core skills and really just getting the squad together and bonding.
“Training is short and sharp, which is good because it’s a long season, and Tony [Hanks] and the other coaching staff definitely like input from the players.
“But you know that when it’s on, it’s on.”
Jacobs and fellow Australian Steve Kefu will have to fill the gaps created by Josh Lewsey and Riki Flutey, but the former Saracens man has identified another player to watch.
He said: “Lachlan Mitchell was with the Waratahs with me. He’s only young but he’s definitely come on a lot and is one for the future.
“But there are a lot of players coming in and academy players coming through who train with us and show up the older blokes.
“I think this is like a fresh start for Wasps. It’s definitely an an exciting time to be here.”
