Welsh make triple swoop

London Welsh have moved to bolster their squad for next season with the signings of Aaron Liffchak, Daniel George and Tom Brown.

Liffchak joins Welsh from Saracens after a successful loan spell at Old Deer Park this season, which has seen the 22-year-old prop make 14 league appearances for the Exiles, scoring one try.

Formerly a wing before switching to the front row, the Saracens Academy product has gained representative honours with England at Universities, U16 and U18 levels and arrives from the Heineken Cup semi-finalists, for whom he has made 12 appearances since making his debut against London Irish in 2005.

Hooker George arrives at Old Deer Park from the Scarlets having also played for Llanelli. The 21-year-old is a product of the clubs Academy and has made four appearances for the Scarlets this season, including coming off the bench in the Heineken Cup clash with Wasps. George has also played for Llangennech and Carmarthen Quins, as well as captaining the Wales U19's in South Africa.

Brown joins the Exiles from National One side Newbury, for whom the No.8 has made 58 appearances, scoring 10 tries, since arriving at the Blues from Coventry in 2006. The 24-year-old has gained representatives honours with Wales at U21 level, and was also part of the Wales Rugby League squad for the 2004 European Nations Cup.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of Aaron, who has been one of the players of the season for London Welsh," said chief executive Peter Thomas.

"He is a technically good scrummager, a strong ball carrier and during the season has also established himself as a firm favourite of the Old Deer Park crowd.

"Daniel is one of the outstanding young hookers in Wales and we're delighted that he has chosen to come to London Welsh to further his rugby career, while Tom has been one of the most impressive back row forwards in National One this season and regularly puts in man of the match performances for Newbury. We look forward to welcoming him to Old Deer Park, as he sees this as a step forward in his career."

Thomas added: "We have the core of an excellent squad and these signings will strengthen us in key areas, and they are the first of a number of new signings that we will be announcing over the next few weeks."
