Satala ruled out and Winters injured so no rest for Pat

SUMMER signings Nathan Williams, Laurent Gomez and Pablo Cardinali are likely to make their debuts for NEC Harlequins in today's game against Glasgow in Hughenden (7.30pm).

But another new capture, Viliame Satala, who won a silver medal with Fiji in the Commonwealth Games Sevens, misses out because Fiji insisted all their players returned home for a celebration in their honour.

Satala will return in time for Quins' match against Beziers next Wednesday.

Quins had intended to rest the three players who helped England win the Plate final at the Commonwealth Games for today's match but have had to call upon Pat Sanderson as Roy Winters ruptured an Achilles tendon during training this week and could be out for six months.

Sanderson, Nick Duncome and Ben Gollings were bitterly disappointed at not winning a medal at the Games, going out in the Sevens main competition quarter-finals in which Satala helped Fiji to beat England on Saturday.

Gollings said: "We were gutted not to reach the main final. Our victory in the Plate shows what could have been."

Quins' South African signing Andre Vos will not be joining the squad for two more months and in the meantime England star Jason Leonard is expected to take over the captaincy from Keith Wood.

Leonard will lead the side, which will also include Wood, Will Greenwood and Paul Burke, against Glasgow.

The full squad is: Nathan Williams, Rob Jewell, Ugo Monye, Matt Moore, Chris Bell, Nick Greenstock,

Will Greenwood, Paul Burke, David Slemen, Scott Bemand, Matthew Powell, Pablo Cardinali, Laurent Gomez, Jason Leonard (capt), Bruce Starr, Ace Tiatia, Keith Wood, Alex Codling, Bill Davison, Jim Evans, Karl Rudzki, Tony Diprose, Darryl Griffin, Kai Horstmann, Simon Miall, Luke Sherriff and Pat Sanderson.
