David Moyes has welcomed the decision by West Ham fans not to stage a protest march ahead of tomorrow's crucial clash with Burnley.

Hammers supporters were due to demonstrate against the club's board prior to kick-off but the march was called off after a meeting with vice-chair Karren Brady apparently ironed out a number of their grievances.

A second demonstration, planned by a seperate supporters' group, was then shelved on safety grounds though a wedge has been driven between certain fans adding to an already unhappy atmosphere around the London Stadium.

But manager Moyes knows having the supporters onside will be vital if West Ham are to pull away from relegation trouble.

"I have a message to say that it is great for the players and the management that they are not marching," he said.

"The atmosphere in some of the games has been tremendous and we need that.

"There are grievances at any club. There are grievances against managers or owners, all of you want to make sure the club is in the right position.

"We just hope we have nearly 60,000 tomorrow and they are all getting behind the team."

Back-to-back 4-1 defeats away at Liverpool and Swansea have left West Ham in 14th, just three points above the drop zone.

Moyes reckons his side need at least three wins from their final nine games, six of which are at home, to ensure their survival.

"Every game is going to be really important and until we get the points to remain a Premier League team, which I believe we will do, you have got to get them," he added.

"We need good performances and here we have had some good showings, some good games and then some poor ones, so we have to find some balance.

"But between now and the end of the season we need to win at least another three anyway.

"I think 40 points is the safe bet, if you get 40 then you're pretty much there so we've got 10 points to get there."

Moyes confirmed defender Winston Reid will miss the rest of the season with the knee ligament injury he suffered at Swansea.

But fellow centre-backs Angelo Ogbonna and James Collins should be fit to return against the Clarets.
