Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson will not rush Alexander Sorloth into the team.

Sorloth, who joined in a £9m deal from FC Midtjylland on transfer deadline day, was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle yesterday.

Palace could have used some extra firepower in the game after Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha wasted glorious chances to score.

Hodgson said: "I've only seen him [Sorloth] in two training sessions, and he's not played since November.

"I would ideally have not thrown him in until he'd had more time training with us."

Palace, who are winless in three games, remain three points above the relegation zone.
