A late penalty miss by Luka Milivojevic denied Crystal Palace a surprise New Year's Eve win as they drew with Manchester City in an entertaining 0-0 draw.

Referee Jonathan Moss pointed to the spot after Wilfried Zaha was fouled inside the penalty area, but the midfielder could not convert.

The game was filled with chances, bookings, and injuries, but neither side could draw first blood in their last games of 2017.

Here’s how News Shopper rated Crystal Palace’s players…

Wayne Hennessey – 7 – Denied Sane at close range and produced some other good saves as City pressed their influence in the second half.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah – 8 – Produced at both ends of the pitch. Made Sane cut a frustrating figure before he was booked and switch wings, a very good performance.

James Tomkins – 9 – Stepped up when Palace needed him most after Dann’s injury. Made critical interceptions and clearances against City’s attackers.

Scott Dann – 6 – Nothing stood out in his 15-minute appearance before going off with an untimely knee injury. Received a yellow card for the foul before receiving medical treatment.

Patrick van Aanholt – 7 – City got the better of him in the first half but eventually started to improve. Made a crucial interception late in the second.

Andros Townsend – 6 – Helped out Van Aanholt defensively, particularly when City were getting some joy, but didn’t produce enough in attack. Missed arguably Palace’s best chance and didn’t even hit the target.

Yohan Cabaye – 6 – Had more to do defensively, as expected, than going forward, but not his best outing. Passing could have been slightly better.

Luka Milivojevic – 7 – A little rash with his defending at times but overall contributed well in negating City’s attack. Missed Palace’s penalty ruined his otherwise decent showing.

Jairo Riedewald – 6 – City beat him a few times with two-on-one situations, but his defending with Van Aanholt helped tremendously. Slotted into midfield well.

Wilfried Zaha – 10 – Aside from Tomkins, he was Palace’s most influential player. Won countless fouls and sparked their counters. Won Palace their penalty, but it was eventually saved. Man of the match.

Christian Benteke – 6 – A quiet performance and did not cause City’s defence too much trouble, although he did play in Zaha a few times.
