Former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is the favourite to succeed Tony Pulis at West Brom.
Baggies chiefs sacked Pulis after a 4-0 home defeat to Chelsea last Saturday.
Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, Sam Allardyce and Pardew have been linked with the vacancy, but the latter is the leading contender.
Pardew bossed Palace for just under two years and was axed after a poor run of results last December.
He has been out of a managerial job since and has appeared as a TV pundit for Sky Sports.
Pardew worked with West Brom technical director Nick Hammond when he was manager at Reading.
And Hammond is set to play a part in the process of finding Pulis’ successor.
Gary Megson, who was Pulis’ assistant at West Brom, will take charge of the team for their game against Tottenham on Saturday.
