Ex-Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes Frank de Boer’s Crystal Palace days are numbered.

De Boer, who succeeded Sam Allardyce in the Eagles hotseat earlier this summer, suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Premier League new boys Huddersfield in his first competitive game.

His preferred 3-4-3 formation failed to work against a Terriers team who dominated Palace.

De Boer lasted less than three months at Inter Milan last season, and talkSPORT pundit Cascarino reckons his Crystal Palace future looks bleak.

He told the Times: “Having survived in the Premier League under the likes of Tony Pulis and Sam Allardyce, I can’t understand Crystal Palace appointing Frank de Boer.

“His tactics and style are all wrong for that level. I don’t think he will last too long.”
