Mauricio Pellegrino has impressed Crystal Palace chiefs after holding talks over their vacant managerial role.

Palace have been conducting interviews this week to find Sam Allardyce’s successor.

Roger Schmidt and Burnley boss Sean Dyche have been spoken to already, according to the Independent.

And Pellegrino, who is believed to still be in talks with the Palace hierarchy, was one of the surprise names to impress the club.

The 45-year-old coach guided Alaves to a ninth-place finish in their first season back in La Liga and reached the Copa del Rey final.

The Eagles expressed an interest in Pellegrino after the former Liverpool player quit the Spanish club last month.

Dyche remains the favourite to take over at Palace, but Burnley are readying a new deal to keep their man at Turf Moor.
