Sam Allardyce believes Crystal Palace would be in the top 10 if his key men were fit.

Palace stars James Tomkins, Scott Dann and Yohan Cabaye have not played together since their shock win against league leaders Chelsea on April 1.

The Eagles host 18th-placed Hull on Sunday, and Andros Townsend is the latest player to break down. The England winger is struggling with an achilles problem.

Allardyce said: “We haven’t had the full squad fit since I’ve been here. When I’ve been with teams in the past, we went into games with a full squad.

“But now, it’s been one of the biggest disruptions of our season.

“We played Chelsea and lost Tomkins and Dann and still won, played Liverpool and Tomkins went out again with that horrendous tackle. We then played Tottenham, where Mama [Mamadou Sakho] got the knee problem.

“Yohan Cabaye went down, too, and has been key with assists and goals.

“Big players haven’t been available and if they were, we’d be in the top half of the table.”

This Is Local London: Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye almost joined Arsenal in August 2013.

Yohan Cabaye is a doubt for the Hull clash

Palace looked safe from the drop after their win over Liverpool last month, however, three successive defeats followed. Allardyce’s men are now just four points above the bottom three going into the Hull clash.

And Allardyce, who pulled off a stunning rescue mission with Sunderland last season, knows his players must be mentally prepared on Sunday.

He added: “It’s one of the biggest parts if we succeed or fail. Your intelligence or football intelligence decides if you play well.

“The players are fit enough and if they hold it together, mentally, and stay positive, then it will be good enough.”
