Injuries and missed chances stopped Welling from claiming their first away win of the season.

Olumide Durojaiye's absence meant that Connor Dymond had to drop back to right back with Joe Healy taking the defensive midfield role.

There was only one team in the game for most of the first half with the Welling players keen to repay their supporters for their disappointing performance at home to Hampton and Richmond Borough in their last game.

Bradley Goldberg created the first opportunity when dispossessing Anthony Staraker but although his shot from 25 yards was well directed but lacked the power to beat Luke Southwood at the bottom corner.

Joe Healy was then fouled by the hapless Straraker and took the free kick himself with an excellent delivery that Tom Bradbrook rose to meet, but headed wide.

Marvin Morgan tried his luck for Bath but Dillon Barnes made an easy save and Welling were soon on the attack again.

Healy scuffed a corner which appeared to confuse the Bath defence and it fell to Bradbrook whose shot was saved.

However Healy's next corner ended with Welling scoring. Although a Bath defender won the initial header it only came out as far as Harry Phipps who picked his spot with a floating header inside the far post.

They should have doubled their lead soon after when Tom Bradbrook was sent clear through but he failed to beat Southwood with his finish.

Goldberg then had to depart and was replaced by Lloyd Macklin and he was soon sent clear but once again, Southwood saved the day as he rushed out to foil another one on one.

It was then necessary for Welling to make a second change when Bradbrook was forced to retire with Jack Jebb replacing him.

Nick McCootie then created Bath's first decent chance when his deep cross was met by Andy Watkins coming in late at the far post but he could only direct his header into the side netting.

George Rigg created an opportunity for himself but fired over then Healy did superbly to defend a Staraker free kick that was floated in menacingly.

Watkins was again off target when Darren Jones retrieved a deep corner but Welling were good value for their half time lead.

At the break, Bath made two changes but after Staraker had seen a weak free kick come back off the wall, Welling missed another great chance. Jebb slung in a great cross but Macklin failed to add the final touch that was all that was needed.

McCootie had a shot claimed easily by Barnes before Southwood had to be very watchful to claim a Jebb free kick which just evaded the Welling attackers.

Possibly the best move of the match almost created a second for Welling. Healy found Christian Nanetti who sent Jebb clear. He pulled it back and found Macklin but the replacement striker again failed to muster sufficient power to trouble Southwood.

Ryan Case fired well wide for Bath but they levelled soon afterwards. Jack Compton made the most of some slack Welling defending and Jamie Lucas finished from close range.

Christie Pattisson replaced Jeffrey Monakana and immediately caused problems, creating an opening for Healy, but his first time volley went wide.

Compton fired a late free kick into the wall before two late Jebb free kicks caused problems but came to nothing.
