Bradley Goldberg took full advantage of Lee Henderson's indiscipline to claim a point for Welling United at Oxford City.

There were eleven minutes remaining when he slotted home from the spot after Henderson appeared to have butted Jack Parkinson in his own six yard box. He was sent off as well as the award of a penalty.

Joe Healy and Ben Jefford were both unavailable so Olumide Durojaiye made his first Welling start at left back. New signing Harry Phipps, on a one month loan from Maidstone United, also made his Wings debut.

Early chances went the way of the visitors and Ian Gayle headed wide from Jack Jebb's corner.

Goldberg had an effort deflected wide before Gayle was again off target with a header from a Jebb corner.

After that, Oxford enjoyed the better of the first half and Dillon Barnes was called into action to save from Zac McEachran

Matt Patterson's was next to test Barnes, but the Wings custodian was equal to it, saving at the expense of a corner. Eddie Jones then rose well from the delivery but Tom Bradbrook leapt high to head it over his own bar.

Barnes again saved from McEachran as he fired another effort towards the bottom from outside the area then Jeffrey Monakana almost walked it in at the other end at the end of a long mazy run.

Rob Sinclair then set up Patterson who fired over but Oxford's new signing was not to be denied and he spun and fired home a minute before the interval.

There was still time for Bradbrook to head over before the break.

Immediately after the break, Bradbrook missed a good chance when directing a free header straight at Jack Stevens from Monakana's cross.

Stevens made a flying save from Goldberg before Welling should have been awarded a penalty when Monakana's cross struck the raised arm of a defender in the area.

Another Jebb corner was headed down by Gayle but it ballooned up and over.

Once again, Goldberg drew a good save out of Stevens before Welling had a scare when a massive scramble, in which Barnes saved twice, was stabbed home. Fortunately for them, it was from an offside position and Welling escaped.

Monakana went on another thrilling run and found substitute Christian Nanetti. Although his cross was half cleared to Jebb, his shot lacked the power to trouble Stevens.

Then came Welling's lifeline when Oxford's captain lost his head. Goldberg kept his, however, to convert confidently.

Late chances came Welling's way but neither Goldberg nor Gayle could finish and both teams had to settle for a point.
