Walthamstow FC have bolstered their forward line ahead of the new Essex Senior League season with the signing of Basildon United striker James Peagram.

Peagram was one of the Essex Senior League’s leading scorers last season with 29 goals in all competitions, helping fire Basildon to promotion to the Bostik League North.

The striker, who has notched over 100 goals in the last three campaigns, has also represented Boreham Wood and Harlow Town previously and Walthamstow boss Ryan Maxwell was delighted to secure the frontman’s services.

He said “I’m over the moon to have signed James. He’s a proven goal scorer who will be great on the pitch as well as in the changing room.

“This signing is showing that we’re making the right progress, and that we really are a football club now.”

The signing of Peagram is a welcome boost for newly renamed Walthamstow, who also secured the services of influential striker Christian Owusu and the versatile Rheo Josephs for another season last week.

Owusu proved to be an influential figure for Ryan Maxwell’s men last season, with his nine goals in ten games helping the team preserve their Essex Senior League status for another campaign.

Josephs, meanwhile, can play in either defence, midfield or attack and scored the all-important third goal against Ilford which ensured Walthamstow beat the drop on the final day of the season.
