Spurs trio Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen have all been named in Belgium’s provisional 28 man squad for the World Cup next month.

Alderweireld, Dembele and Vertonghen have all been regulars on the international stage for some time and barring injury, look set to be included in Roberto Martinez’s squad, which has to be reduced to 23 players by June 4.

Both Vertonghen and Dembele have featured regularly for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino this season, while Alderweireld has endured an injury hit campaign, restricting him to just 21 appearances in all competitions.

Alderweireld’s future with Spurs remains in question with just a year remaining on his contract and the defender has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Chelsea and French giants PSG.

The Spurs trio have been joined in the Belgium squad by former Tottenham Hotspur man Nacer Chadli who moved to West Bromwich Albion from the North London club in August 2016.

14 Premier League players have been selected in the squad by Roberto Martinez, including Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester City duo Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne as well as Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Belgium will come up against Gareth Southgate’s England next month in Russia, with both teams being drawn in group G alongside Tunisia and Panama.
