The South London & Kent Pool Alliance switched attention to The Founder's Cup this week and although there were no massive shocks in the first round, there was a surprise in the all Premier Division clash between Eltham Terrace Nuthouse and Hustlers A.

Nuthouse started the better, taking the first set, 3-2 but Hustlers came back and won the second set by the same score to tie the match at five all.

Phil O'Kane won the first frame of the final set, for his third frame win of the night, but Nuthouse rattled off the next three frames, which included an exceptional black by Louis Wilbourne to win the match and knock out the runners up from the previous two years in the first round.

It was an epic performance by Nuthouse, who were without three of their regulars and only had two cues between the five of them. Captain, Craig Jones led from the front, scoring a hat-trick but the other four players all chipped in with at least a frame from Wilbourne, Jon Syta and Julie Lancaster and Zoe Healy won two of her three frames.

In the only other all Premier Division clash, the league leaders, Eltham Terrace Rovers beat bottom of the table, Bellegrove Social Club by 8 frames to 4.

The top two in Division Two, Bellegrove Flyers and New Eltham Social Club faced each other in a very close match that went right down to the wire, the last ball of the last frame.

With the score at seven all Flyers Captain, Keith Smith played Jamie Phillips and Phillips had chances to win but Smith deposited a long black to put his team into round two.

Also going right down to the wire was the match between the bottom two of Division Two, Foots Cray Social Club and Happy Hustlers.

Hustlers were relying on Donna Mullins to get them across the line, which she was very close to doing but unfortunately it was not meant to be and Foots Cray finished up, 8-7 winners..

All four Bellegrove teams were involved in the first round and it was mixed fortunes for the remaining two sides.

Bellegrove A played hosts to Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, who edged the first two sets, 3-2 before Steve Heather won his third frame of the match to give Rack Pack the, 8-5 triumph.

On the other hand Bellegrove were dominant against CSC Mr's & Miss Q's.

CSC's Luke Matthews and Dawn Field won the first two frames but they didn't manage any more, as Bellegrove took the next eight frames in a row for an impressive, 8-2 victory.

Declan Kelly, Paul Elford and Dean James all scored an unbeaten brace with Paul Cook and Steve Lloyd winning their only frames for the victors.

Premier Division, Hotshots were also, 8-2 winners over Fox & Hounds from Division One, to comfortably see themselves through to round two.
