Enfield Town have appointed management duo Andy Leese and Darren Purse to succeed Brad Quinton and Andy Porter in the hot seats.

Leese’s most recent stint came at Chesham United and he led the Generals to promotion to the Southern Premier Division in 2010.

More recently, during the 2015/16 season he famously led the side to the second round of the FA Cup before being defeated by Bradford City.

Pulse will take on the role as an assistant manager as well as being registered as a player.

The new assistant boss has had a long and distinguished career and he last played for Bishop’s Stortford.

The former England Under-21 International has also played for Leyton Orient, Oxford United. Birmingham City, Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.

He has worked with Leese in the past at Chesham in 2014-15 and again in 2016-17.

Towners chairman Paul Reed said: “We were extremely impressed with the number if applications we had, and it was difficult to whittle down to a manageable number of interviews, such was the calibre of those we shortlisted.

“Andy and Darren were extremely clear about their immediate and longer term plans for the club and were outstanding candidates.

“I very much look forward to working with them both.”

The new duo will hope they can repeat the success of last season, but also go one step further.

Enfield reached the play-off semi-finals in the Ryman Premier League but eventually lost out 4-2 against Dulwich Hamlet.

But promotion hopes should not be a problem for Leese who told the club website: “I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious club, and can’t wait to get started.

“There are very few good jobs available at this level, and this is definitely one of them.

“Apart from being supporter-owned, I know the club is very community orientated and I am very pleased to be part of that.

“Brad Quinton has clearly done a great job during this time at the club and Darren and I will be looking to pick up the reins quickly and make progress.

“We will relish the challenge of meeting the expectations of supporters.”

And Purse agreed with his counterpart, saying: “I am delighted to be working with Andy again. I think we complement each other very well and have an extensive knowledge of the game between us. Joining Enfield Town is very exciting and we will be aiming to keep the club’s momentum going from day one.”
