Enfield Town have reached the play-offs for the first time ever in the Ryman Premier League after drawing 1-1 with Leiston.

Leiston needed the victory to join Town in the top five positions and went onto the offensive straight from the off.

Town's Nathan McDonald had to be alert to grab the ball from the feet of Ade Cole and then clear from the onrushing Matt Blake early on.

Blake then headed over when a well placed while, at the other end, a great run from Karl Oliyide down the left produced a cut back to Dernell Wynter.

However, the Town striker was blocked as he tried to get the ball out from under his feet to shoot.

Billy Crook then had a chance but he fired over before Harry Ottaway and Tyler Campbell both set up Wynter whose shots were too high on each occasion.

On the half hour mark, Wynter could have broken the deadlock but his diving header flew fractionally wide from Campbell's cross.

As the game entered stoppage time in the first half Gareth Heath rose at the far post above Crook to guide a cross from the left past McDonald for the opener.

In the second half, Town needed to up their game after the break with the Blues in the driving seat.

After a couple of set pieces had come to nothing for the visitors, former Towner Ade Cole fired over after a mistake by Jon Muleba.

But the hosts soon grew into the game and Oliyide burst through in a central position and took the past keeper Ashlee Jones.

But he lost control at the wrong time as he looked destined to score with his left foot.

Around the hour mark, Blake spurned a great opportunity to double their lead after McDonald had been sold short by an under-hit back pass from Ricky Gabriel.

The Town however soon upped the pressure but Wynter shot wide from Ottaway's pass with Scott Shulton and Mickey Parcell were both off target.

Five minutes of regular time remaining Samir Bihmoutine crossed Bobby Devyne who volleyed home the equaliser from closer range.

Unfortunately for Leiston, there was not enough time to summon a response.

Devyne, however, picked up a knee injury when he stretched for a ball in the penalty area unchallenged.

This was serious enough for him to be carried off.

Town face Dulwich Hamlet Thursday in the play-off semi-final (7.45pm kick-off).

Town starting XI: McDonald, Muleba, Gabriel, Joseph, Kirby, Shulton, Campbell (Parcell 60), Crook (Bihmoutine 80), Wynter (Devyne 67), Ottaway, Oliyide, Bihmoutine.
