Enfield Town gave themselves an outside boost of reaching the play-offs after they defeated Leatherhead 2-1 at the weekend.

Billy Crook had an early shot saved by Tanners keeper Louis Wells, who was soon in action again, coming off his line to gather the ball ahead of Karl Oliyide.

However, it was Leatherhead who took the lead in the 19th minute when a square ball from the left found Jerome Federio who lobbed the ball out of Nathan McDonald's reach for the opener.

Soon afterwards, Dernell Wynter found Oliyide on the edge of the visitor's box but he could not quite set up Crook and the ball was cleared by Jerry Nnamani.

Town suffered a blow when Crook had to go off after he picked up a leg injury.

But Town had some promising moments, Mickey Parcell's shot from Wynter's pass was comfortably saved by Wells in the 28th minute.

The first half ended with chances coming from both sides but neither could capitalise.

Enfield started the second-half with more purpose to their play with Oliyide firing just wide of the post from a Wynter pass.

Tyler Campbell came on for Samir Bihmoutine at the break, and the hosts found themselves level on the hour mark.

Campbell's free-kick found Ricky Gabriel who was unmarked in the box and he was given time to direct his header into the net.

In the 68th minute, the away side's Kadell Dabiel fired narrowly wide but Town began to press more.

Wells did well to top over a drive from Wynter, Oliyide charged down the right and delivered a high cross which eluded a clutch of players in a crowded box.

Campbell, however, managed to control the loose ball, step forward and coolly placed his effort beyond a couple of retreating defenders for the winner.
