The South London & Kent Pool Alliance League Cup semi-final line up has now been finalised and the three teams from the Bellegrove have all made it through to join Sharks.

Group D was a straight battle between Foots Cray Social Club and Bellegrove Social Club after both teams had beaten Greyhound Elite, 14-1.

Bellegrove saw off the challenge quite comfortably with an, 11-4 victory.

In Group B Rose Inn did all they could in order to qualify by beating Fox & Hounds by 10 frames to 5.

They got off to a great start by winning the first three frames but Fox brought the set back to, 3-2, however Rose pulled away in the second set, taking it, 4-1 for an overall, 7-3 lead.

The final set went exactly the same as the first, with Rose taking the first three frames and Fox the last two to give Rose the, 10-5 win.

Dean Greany-Parr and Mike Bunn were the inspiration behind the victory, both winning all three of their frames.

With this group being so close Rose Inn now had to wait for the result of the match between Royal Oak Addicks and Bellegrove A but as Addicks couldn’t field a side it threw the group into turmoil.

Initially Bellegrove were given a, 12-0 win which put them through to the semi-final but that wasn’t considered a fair decision, so as it was Addicks third no show of the season they were removed from the competition and all results involving them in the League Cup were considered null and void but this didn’t affect who won the group, Bellegrove A.

There was a bit more of a fight in Group C, with three teams still hoping to go through.

Bellegrove Flyers hit the top last week with a 12-3 triumph over Academicals, so Glenmore Arms and CSC Mr’s & Miss Q’s both knew they had to score at least thirteen frames against each other in order to qualify.

Both teams battled hard, which made it even more difficult to achieve the thirteen frames needed but CSC battled slightly harder finishing, 9-6 winners.

So there will definitely be a Bellegrove team in the League Cup final as Bellegrove Flyers will play Bellegrove Social Club in one of the semi-finals.

Sharks already qualified from Group A last week and will face Bellegrove A in the other semi, which made the other match in the group between Eltham Terrace Rack Pack and North Heath Social Club a dead rubber but Rack Pack didn’t see it that way, running out, 11-4 winners.

It was an amazing day for the club, as their Premier Division team, Bellegrove picked up their sixth victory of the season and relegated Crayford Social Club Rugrats in the process.

It looked like Bellegrove were going to run away with it, taking a, 3-0 lead in the first set but Rugrats won the next two frames to keep them in it.

Bellegrove extended their lead to two frames with the first frame of the second set but Rugrats won the next three to take a one frame lead themselves before Bellegrove tied the match with the last frame of the set.

Rugrats took the lead again with the eleventh frame but Bellegrove took the next three frames to secure the win before Rugrats won the last frame, making the overall score a more than respectable, 8-7 in Bellegrove’s favour.

Paul Williams held his nerve to win both of his frames at crucial points of the match but team mate, Richie Mitchell went one better with an unbeaten hat-trick.

It was a fantastic battle by Rugrats but it was all in vain as they go into the final week of the season knowing it will be their last in the Premier Division, at least for now.

There was another massive relegation battle, as second bottom, Eltham Terrace Nuthouse played hosts to Falconwood Social in eighth.

Before this match there was only one point between the teams and this continued as Nuthouse took the first set, 3-2 and they increased that lead in the second set, taking it, 4-1 for an overall, 7-3 lead.

Shane O’Reilly was unplayable all night and won his third frame of the night to give Nuthouse the victory but Falconwood were not going to lie down, going on to take the set, 3-2 but it wasn’t enough to stop Nuthouse winning the match, 9-6 to leapfrog their opponents by just two points.

Along with O’Reilly, Nuthouse had three more unbeaten players, with Aaron Shephard and Zoe Healy both scoring a brace and Dave Sparey winning his only frame.

O’Reilly may have been unplayable for Nuthouse but Falconwood had their own hat-trick hero in Ben Creffield.

The relegation dogfight is still between three teams, with Eltham Terrace Rovers joining Falconwood and Nuthouse in the melting pot.

Falconwood are in possession of the automatic relegation place and Nuthouse hold the play-off spot but Rovers are only four points ahead of Nuthouse, after going down to a 9-6 defeat against Pickwick this week.

Despite the 25 points between the two teams before the match, this was a close affair at five frames all after the first two sets but Pickwick pulled away in the final set, taking it by 4 frames to 1, for a, 9-6 victory.

There were no unbeaten players on the night but many achieved two out of three, with Mark Brinkley, Paul Gafa, Martin Storey and Paul Slater all scoring it for Pickwick and Ryan Francis did the same for Rovers.

It’s going to be a tough battle in next week’s final league match, as Nuthouse and Falconwood Social face the two teams fighting for the league title, Eltham Terrace Club A and Hustlers A, respectively while Rovers face Hotshots.

It was another Falconwood, Terrace clash, as Falconwood Club played hosts to Eltham Terrace Club A and what a scrap it was, with the first two sets being shared, 3-2.

We went into the last set at five all and started it at 11.20, long after most other games had finished and it continued to be close as the first four frames were also shared, sending the match into a final frame decider.

If the match was a scrap then the last frame was a scrappy affair but Dan Heinink stood strong and eventually won the frame, giving his team, Eltham Terrace Club A the 8-7 triumph.

Dave Rawlinson was the man of the match, winning all three of his frames, including a clearance from a dry break in the second set.

Terrace retain top spot going into the final week but Hustlers A have reduced the gap to six points, giving them an outside chance of catching the league leaders, after a, 10-5 victory over Hotshots.

This was a great game and Hotshots took a surprising 3-2 lead in the first set, only surprising because they were down to four players, as some of their squad was representing London at the County Finals in Great Yarmouth.

Hustlers levelled the match at five all and the pressure must have told on the Hotshots four as Hustlers went on to whitewash the final set.

Richard Chapman and Neil Hall deserve a special mention for Hotshots, playing extremely well to win two of their three frames.

It’s all to play for at both ends of the table in next week’s final round of league matches.
