Week eight of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance winter season and all at the Bellegrove Social Club in Welling with have smiles on their faces, as the three teams in action this week all finished the night with victories.

At the top of Division One and still unbeaten after eight matches are Bellegrove Social Club, who saw off the challenge of Eltham Terrace Rack Pack this week.

Rack Pack put up a good fight, with Dan O’Rourke winning all three frames and Captain, Steve Unwin triumphing in two of his three but it was to no avail, as Bellegrove ran out, 9-6 winners.

Dave Jandu has been in superb form this season, his first in the SLKPA and he continued that this week with an unbeaten hat-trick and Jason Brunton was also unbeaten, winning both of his.

Just a point ahead of Rack Pack in fourth are Bellegrove A, who beat bottom team Royal Oak Addicks by 10 frames to 5 this week.

The game had a tight start with the first four frames being shared but by the end of the second set Bellegrove had raced into a, 7-3 lead and they went onto take the final set, 3-2 to confirm the overall victory.

Bellegrove’s Pat Melia won all three of his frames but Nathan Lampen went one better, winning all three of his.

Addicks are rooted to the bottom, ten points behind Foots Cray Social Club, who lost themselves this week, 11-4 to Glenmore Arms.

Despite the large margin of victory there were only two unbeaten players, Christos Ioannou scoring two frame wins and AJ Corker with a perfect three out of three performance.

This result cements Glenmore in third place, just three points behind Bellegrove Social Club, at the top and only one point behind CSC Mr’s & Miss Q’s.

North Heath Social Club were CSC’s opponents this week and it looked like it was going to be a close game with CSC taking the first set, 3-2 but they went onto take the first three frames of the second set to take a, 6-2 lead.

However, Kev Nankoo and Paul Baker pulled it back for North Heath but it was not enough, as CSC extended their lead in the final set, taking it, 4-1 for an overall, 10-5 triumph.

North Heath Captain, Baker kept the score respectable by winning a frame in each set, with the only other players to win a frame being, Nankoo and Akar Necati.

Keeping up CSC’s title hopes were, Captain, Natalie Barnes, winning both her frames and Steven Aldridge and Lee Bushell, who both won all three of theirs.

In the SLKPA Premier Division, Bellegrove completed the hat-trick of wins for the club with an, 11-4 victory over bottom team Crayford Social Club Rugrats.

This was only Bellegrove’s second league victory of the season, with Rugrats also only having two wins to their name, although Bellegrove are four places and twenty points ahead of their opponents.

It was also an excellent night for the Premier Division teams based at Eltham Terrace, with all three of them picking up important victories.

Eltham Terrace Club A had a tough match against Falconwood Club, finding it hard to keep tags on their opponents in the early stages, Falconwood won the first two sets, 3-2 to take a, 6-4 lead into the final set.

Their unbeaten record in danger of being broken, Terrace turned it around assisted by a dish from a dry break by Dan Vowles to keep them in the match, taking it to seven all and a final frame decider.

Falconwood’s Dean James, on two out of two, was unlucky not to win his third and give his team a valuable victory, instead Eltham Terrace took the frame and the match for an, 8-7 triumph to remain unbeaten for the season at the top of the table.

Declan Kelly joined James on two out of three but Paul Elford scored an unbeaten brace for Falconwood.

Terrace didn’t have any unbeaten players but Paul Shrimpton regained some form and matched Vowles dish from a dry break.

Eltham Terrace Rovers stay in eighth after picking up a vital, 10-5 triumph over Pickwick, who are in third.

Pickwick were hampered by only having four players, for the first time in their history but take nothing away from Rovers, who deserved their second victory of the season, with Kevin England and Lee Osbourn unbeaten on two and three frame wins, respectively.

The only one to really hold up any resistance for Pickwick was Martin Storey, winning two of his three frames.

Eltham Terrace Nuthouse made it three out of three for the Terrace teams in the Premier Division but only just, as they had a real fight on their hands against Falconwood Social.

Falconwood won the first frame but Nuthouse took the next three for the set, before Falconwood pulled one back at the end of the set.

The second set went to Falconwood by the same score as the first to tie the match at five all going into the final set and the close, hard fought nature of the match continued into the last set, with the first four frames being shared, swinging one way then the other, to take the match into a final frame decider.

Falconwood’s Alex Biggs faced Nuthouse Captain, Craig Jones and it was Jones who held his nerve to give his team the, 8-7 victory, a nine point lead over their opponents and a five point gap between themselves and Rovers.

Leading by example was Falconwood’s Captain, Paul Rowlinson recording an unbeaten hat-trick, with Nuthouse’ Dave Sparey matching that score.

Hustlers A have reduced Eltham Terrace Club A’s lead at the top from nine points to seven after they beat Hotshots by 10 frames to 5, which is enough for Hotshots to hold onto fifth place.

Keeping up their remarkable unbeaten season are Sharks, who have won all of their seven matches, scoring ten frames or more in each and have opened up an eighteen point gap at the top of SLKPA Division Two.

This week they were playing bottom team, Plumstead Radical Club and they were in the lead from start to finish, taking the first and last set, 4-1 with the middle set being slightly closer but they still took it by 3 frames to 2, making the final score, 11-4.

Danny Campbell took the fight to Sharks, winning three of his team’s four frames, with Captain, Angela Hobbs the only other winner for Radical Club.

Despite the large margin of victory, Sharks only had two unbeaten players, Ben Brown who scored two frame wins and Arif Salih with a hat-trick.

Sharks nearest rivals, Fox & Hounds recorded their own, 11-4 victory against Academicals, who didn’t do themselves any favours by only having four players.

With that in mind they did really well to only lose the first two sets by 3 frames to 2 but Fox did the damage in the final set, whitewashing it, 5-0.

All of the Academicals players chipped in with a frame win each and Chris Bracey actually potted the black himself to win his frame.

It was a brilliant all round team performance for Fox, with a hat-trick of players, Neil Shelton, Alan Dolan and Kerry Wyatt all scoring a hat-trick.

Rose Inn must have thought it was their lucky day when they arrived at Greyhound Elite and found them to have just three players, but when John Hurd won the first frame it must have scared them, as they went onto take the next nine.

Greyhound put the frighteners on Rose again in the last set with Bill Mossom taking the tenth frame and Hurd the eleventh and his second out of three played, but they lost the next frame and had to give away the final two, handing Rose Inn an overall 12-3 triumph.

Rose have leapfrogged Bellegrove Flyers, who didn't have a game this week, into third place but only by three points.
