Bromley boss completes double swoop

MARK Goldberg has already made his first moves in the transfer market only days after his return as manager at Hayes Lane.

The Lilliywhites boss has signed 24-year-old central defender Rob Gillman from Bishop's Stortford and agreed terms with 22-year-old Ashford Town (Middlesex) winger Anthony Joseph.

Goldberg also confirmed Omari Coleman has been offered a one-year extension on his contract at the club and he is talking to all of the present squad about their futures.

The manager said: "Rob Gillman is a big centre half who I have been watching for a few years.

"He lives in Sidcup and was the captain of the Luton Town reserve team until they suffered their recent financial problems.

"Rob initially went to Ashford Town in Kent from there before returning to Bishop's Stortford.

"His height and experience will be a major asset to us and he is joined by Anthony Joseph, who will bring pace and excellent delivery.

"Omari Coleman has been brilliant since he came here and will be staying for another year."

Goldberg also confirmed Murray Jones would be rejoining him in the dugout and said he was still searching for a third member of his coaching team.

However, he ruled out both former player-coach Bobby Bowry and former player-manager Simon Osborn from the running for the vacancy.

Goldberg quit the club in December to concentrate on other interests outside of the game, but said he now had more time to devote to the role.

The manager explained: "It was only a matter of time before I got back into it. The timing is right for both Jeremy Dolke and me.

"Bromley is my club in terms of where I live and who I've supported all of my life and it is where I have had my managerial experience.

"I wanted to make sure I could give the job my full commitment and I was unfortunate when I left to have other commitments getting in my way.

"I'm free from those commitments now and my sole focus is Bromley FC again."

Chairman Jeremy Dolke recently put the club up for sale, but the returning manager says this decision had no impact on his own choice to retake his previous job in the dugout.

Goldberg explained: "I've got the position for a year at least and whoever comes in will have to honour this should Jeremy find a buyer.

"What I do know is Jeremy will only be selling to someone who he is convinced will be beneficial to Bromley Football Club, so I'm not too concerned."
