West Ham United mark Premier League return with win over Aston Villa

West Ham United celebrated their return to the Premier League with a 1-0 home win over Aston Villa.
The winning goal came in the 40th minute when Ricardo Vaz Te set up captain Kevin Nolan for a close-range finish.
Aston Villa rarely threatened and the Hammers could have won by more if debutant Modibo Maiga's late effort had not been cleared off the line.
