I quite agree give Zola a chance, this was not the type of game to forecast the season on especially cup games and whilst the play was not pretty to watch and included a number of players who probably will not be part of the first team line up in proper Championship games, it does enable Zola to see what he has in real terms for competative games and obviously he saw he needs to make some serious changes. The new signing to be announced is a striker and he is after another midfield player apparently so he can finally bench warm or pass on Chris and hopefully we can start to gel and finish. Do not expect a win at Palace our boogey team although with Ambrose now gone who knows. Also lutondown no need for a dig at Dyche he may not have got us playing pretty football but he gave us hope and results with it, not sure how that makes people small minded, not giving managers a chance from the beginning or a few games in only is small minded though, remind you of anyone!

Whats where I live got to do with my opinion of our current goalkeeper.I was born in Watford and followed my team for nearly 40 years,I've seen my share of solid keepers at Watford,but I suppose as I now live in Milton Keynes I must bow to your superior intellect and football knowledge.Thanks for putting me right.

Overall a dreadful game, whch may dent the confidence but help the fitness levels.

Im normally a patient man and i guess you have caught me at a high blood presure moment but If after 120 minutes of football after a summer of massive change you are prepared to moan and boo and want you money back for season tickets then i have an idea..... get in your car and set your sat nav for Wealdstone, Barnet, Brentford or the M1 to Luton as quit frankley you aint welcome! Bar Almunia, only 2 new signings played and they looked a cut above the rest. We were trying to play a attacking, passing style of play with last years hoofers! it was quite clear in glimpses that with 3 or 4 of the signings and with a bit more time we will have a very good team playing a style of play that we have craved for years! now either buck up your ideas or get out!

Well said ... 5500 for the match .. shocking ... zero atmosphere, even Harry the Hornet gave up! He disappeared for extra time as did most of the suppprt.. Vydra looks classy, Almunia -- rock steady, Thought Doyley ahd a good game too and was unlucky to be substituted.... Didnt really see anything of the new style we are adopting, got a bit hoof ball .. on a positive my 4 year old enjoyed his day out, I for one am glad I have me season ticket and have purchased for my two boys as well, this year IS going to be great - anyone else notice the sixe of our Physio? -- Think the players will be too scared to fake injury! -also who was the very overweight guy in the Rookery who seemed to be better qualified than Zola or any other previous Manager? -- Funniest moment -- Dyche on the (broken) screen at half time reporting on the game --I am sure he shook his head in disbelief.....

Exactly, Whats the point of supporting a team and then moan at every single player on the pitch, We still won the game, isn't that the most important factor or is playing the "right" way the most important. What's the point of keeping the ball for most of the game and doing nothing with it, there is no right way to play football. If you wanna see the passing game i suggest you go and support arsenal, its obviously done a lot of wonders there the last 7 odd years... As long as we win the game then it doesn't matter to me.

Pathetic supportis right .. not only the comments on here, but the number in the ground for the match. Here we are at the start of brand new era ... an era which could rival any in our history, with one of the greatest players the English game has ever seen at the helm ... and only 5,000 can be bothered to show up. I remember having a letter published in the WO when a similar apology for a crowd turned out for a night game v Scunthorpe ... and that was in the fourth division during the Keen era.
