Leyton Orient midfielder Jobi McAnuff played the whole game as Jamaica lost 3-1 to Mexico in the Gold Cup final in Philadelphia.

The Reggae Boyz were the surprise package of the tournament as they reached the final for the first time.

McAnuff is expected to return to Leyton Orient this week after a busy summer of international football.

Speaking on Saturday, Orient head coach Ian Hendon said: "I've spoken to Jobi since he's been away and I'm really pleased they're going well.

"People say he's away and out of the picture at the moment but he's been away and played six or seven games over the summer and every minute so he's going to come back in good shape that's for sure.

"It might be the case as we go through the season that he might need to have a rest. When he comes back we'll have a look at him, assess how he is and go from there.

"He's under contract and nothing's been said about that. I'm just awaiting his return and we'll assess him when he gets back."
