Blackheath U12s assistant coach Steve Harrison is urging his starlets to enjoy every second when they share the Twickenham stage with their idols later this month.

While we are still unsure as to which two Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs will battle it out at Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Rugby trophy on May 30, Blackheath are assured of their place at the showpiece.

They secured their spot at rugby HQ at a Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup festival hosted by Wasps on September 28.

Blackheath will be taking part in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Parade of Champions during half-time of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final, with Harrison insisting his troops can’t wait to grace the hallowed Twickenham turf.

“The boys are very excited about getting out on to the pitch at the Aviva Premiership Rugby final, they can’t wait,” he said.

“This team actually did really well at a Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup help by Harlequins last year, so they know what it is like to get out at Twickenham and they can’t wait to do it again.

“Every one of the team loved it last year; I think they made enough noise for the whole stadium when they got on to the pitch.

“And I fully expect it to be the same again and hopefully the final itself can be just as exciting as last year.”

Launched in the 2008-09 season, the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is the first national grassroots tournament officiated by Premiership Rugby and run in conjunction with all 12 clubs.

And while some of Blackheath’s under-12s’ Twickenham experience will start and end on May 30, World Cup winner Lewis Moody is adamant the occasion will continue to have a positive effect on their lives.

Moody said: “The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a wonderful competition.

“The more young players who get involved in the game the better and having the carrot of the chance to appear at Twickenham at the end of the season is great.

“To go along and walk on the famous Twickenham pitch will be something the kids will remember for all their lives.”

He added: “It’s set to be a great Aviva Premiership rugby final, the stadium will be packed and the atmosphere will be electric.

“It will be a wonderful experience. I met the children that got the chance to go to it last year, all the different teams and age groups were there on the pitch, and to see the excitement on their faces was great.

“I’m sure it will be the same again this year for the players.

“They played fantastically well in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup and it’s a brilliant way for them to round off the season.”

Land Rover supports grassroots rugby and provides the opportunity for over 7,000 youngsters to take part in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup each season.
