Bexleyheath flyweight Sammy Cantwell put a smile on the face of a ring legend with a whirlwind victory at the Camden Centre.

Cantwell spent a week training with Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton before his fifth professional fight on Saturday.

And the 27 year-old southpaw showed Hattonesque aggression in his two-round thrashing of Peter Kis.

For Cantwell, it was his first fight since last October - and he was in a hurry to make up for lost time.

The Bexleyheath ace simply overwhelmed the Hungarian with two-fisted attacks to body and head, dropping him in the second round before the referee waved the fight off.

Manager Mickey Helliet believes Cantwell is improving with every fight and plans to keep him busy.

He is pencilled in to box again on a dinner show in London on June 3 and if he comes through that unscathed, Cantwell could then box at the York Hall in Bethnal Green the following month.

Helliet said: “We just need to keep Sammy fighting regularly so he stays in the gym and keeps improving.”

Meanwhile, Forest Hill’s Darryll Williams captured the vacant international bronze super-middleweight title by stopping Norbert Szekeres in the fifth of a scheduled eight round encounter.

Williams dropped the Hungarian four times before the referee waved the fight off.

The 24-year-old has now won all ten fights.

He said: “It went well. In the first round I realised he was tough and could dig a bit as well.

“I thought I might be in for a long night, but I kept him under constant pressure.

“He was either punching or moving, and I was slowing him down with body shots as well.

“I’m getting known as a formidable body puncher.”

Williams added: “I predicted I would stop him in the fourth round and I nearly did, but the bell saved him.

“Looking at his record, he doesn’t get stopped often and he showed some guts to keep picking himself up, but I wore him down in the end.

“My coaches were happy with me, but I know there are still things to work on.

“There's no such thing as a perfect performance and I was back in the gym this week looking to put a few things right.”
