Watford Under-18’s finished fourth in Merit League One after losing their final fixture of the season 2-0 to Peterborough United on Saturday.
The Posh took the lead three minutes after the break when Morgan Penfold converted at the near post from a right-wing cross.
And Peterborough might have gone further in front had it not been for a save from Nathan Gartside to push a header over the year.
But Bradley Maslen-Jones headed home a second just before the hour mark. And although Max Makaka went close for the Golden Boys, David Horseman’s side could not rescue anything from the game.
Watford: Gartside; Rogers, Rowan, Young, Martin; Charles (Makaka, 62), Cook (Johnson, 62), Ryan; Pereira (Zaineddine, 87), Folivi, Obi.
