Watford have confirmed former Fulham defender Zat Knight is currently on trial with the club.

The 34-year-old is without a club after his contract with Colorado Rapids was cancelled by mutual consent at the start of this month.

The ex-Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa defender has been training with Watford and was seen at Vicarage Road during last night's game with Rotherham United.

Knight started his career with Fulham. He spent seven season with the London club, which included a loan spell at Peterborough United.

He left in August 2007 to join Aston Villa in a £3.5 million deal. Knight spent two years with the Villains and made 54 appearances for the club.

In 2009 Bolton Wanderers paid £4 million for the centre-back. He remained with the Trotters for five seasons and was named captain in 2013.

He played 191 times for Bolton before leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign. Knight was without a side until last October when he made the switch to American franchise Colorado Rapids.

He made only four appearances for the club, all of which ended in defeat, before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent at the start of this month.
