Former Richmond CC opener Nick Compton says he has returned home after re-signing for Middlesex.
The 31-year-old left Lord’s in 2009 for a five-year stint at Somerset, where his batting average of 55.86 saw him break briefly into the England international set-up and hit two centuries in the 2012-13 in New Zealand.
From 2004 to 2009, Compton made 37 appearances for Richmond at an average of 45.47.
He said: “At Somerset I grew as a player and a person. I also fulfiled the dream of representing England, which is something I am determined to do again.
“Returning to Middlesex CCC as a senior player is an exciting challenge for me, one I am really looking forward to.
“Lord’s is the home of cricket and with my family ties here the time feels right to return home.”
