Sidcup boxer Jamie Andrews produced an explosive finish in his comeback fight on Saturday to stop rival Joe Robertson in the opening round at Epsom racecourse.
Returning to action after suffering back-to-back losses in the Queensbury Boxing League, 27-year-old Andrews unleashed a devastating barrage of punches with barely a minute gone.
The rapid onslaught forced referee Jon Honney to call a halt to the action, with Robertson in no position to continue.
Andrews said: “I’m really happy with the result and to get back to winning ways, but if I’m honest I’d have liked it to have lasted a bit longer.
“Coming into this fight I said people would see a different performance, as I’d had a full training camp behind me and I felt physically and mentally ready for this one.
“I think that showed in there tonight with how I dealt with him.
“It was a great confidence booster for me and now I’m just looking ahead to getting back into the ring early next year and all being well getting back to a position where I can get the rematches I want.”
