Watford are in discussions with two companies about how the South-West Corner will be designed and funded.

American company Centerplate became the Hornets' hospitality and stadium development partner in 2013 and were made project managers for the South-West Corner, with the Golden Boys focussing on completing the East Stand.

Centerplate created a partnership with revenue forecasters International Stadia Group for the new Atletico Madrid stadium and the two companies are also working with the Hornets on all aspects of the club's hospitality.

There are basic plans but they have yet to decide exactly what will be installed in the South-West Corner and how it will be financed.

The club want the structure to generate revenue on non-match days as well as when the Hornets are playing.

Alan McTavish, Watford's commercial director, said: "Both the club and Centerplate are fully committed to bringing the South-West Corner space to life but as with all of our commercial endeavours it is essential that we secure the right model for the club on a long term basis, backed up by a strong business case.

"To that end we are currently engaged with International Stadia Group, who are joint venture partners in the new Atletico Madrid stadium along with Centerplate, to analyse, consider and determine the best hospitality, meetings and events offering for Vicarage Road Stadium moving forward."

The South West Corner was built almost seven years ago but a lack of funds meant it was not completed.

There are four floors to the structure but the second level is currently used for access by those in the Rookery End and the Graham Taylor Stand and it is likely to remain that way.

The two top floors are the club's priority but there is scope to develop the ground level also.

Centerplate's involvement with Watford began in 2013 after the company acquired catering firm Lindley, who already had a deal in place with the club.

We understand there is one year left on the current hospitality deal and that a ten-year extension has been agreed, although that is on the proviso the club are happy with the progress of the South-West Corner.

Centerplate reiterated their commitment to Watford and the South-West Corner in May when approached by the Watford Observer.
