Watford travelled to Latimer Road for the club's first competitive encounter with Queens Park Rangers.
With Charlie Hare replacing Algy Varley, the game also saw the club field their first all-professional XI.
It was an inglorious debut, however, with Goldie's shot deflecting in off Fred Nidd to give the home side victory.
