Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini is a summer target for West Ham, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The winger was signed from Juventus in the summer for £6.5m by sacked director of football Roberto Di Fanti. Since Gus Poyet replaced Paolo Di Canio in October, the 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order.

Despite interest in the Italian international from Genoa, it is reported Giaccherini has settled well in England with both West Ham and Hull City looking to sign the winger.

It is likely the Bibbiena-born midfielder will make a decision on his future when the season finishes and Sunderland's fate is confirmed.

Part of Italy’s 2012 European Championships squad and the 2013 Confederations Cup squad, Giaccherini has 18 full caps for the Azzurri.
