In a battle of two newly-promoted teams, Woodford Under-15s suffered a 35-19 defeat away to Burnham on Crouch in Division Two.
Woodford were up against it after their opponents opened up an 21-0 lead after 18 minutes but Jamie Ali crossed the line to reduce the deficit to 21-7 at the break.
Burnham added two more tries in the second half but Anthony Hamilton also crossed the line twice, with Alex Marks converting one of the scores.
