Istead trio go international

IT might have been snowing in Kent on April 6, but three lucky Istead runners escaped the bad weather to do the Paris marathon.

Like the London event, this is a big race with 28,285 runners finishing the course, which starts in the Avenue des Champs Elysees and goes around Paris to the Bois de Vincenne and back to finish in Avenue Foch.

The Istad & Ifield trio who completed the course were Mel Moore, Molly Hamlin and Robert Standing.

This weekend saw the London Marathon take place and 14 I&I runners took part in the event.

Some were pleased with their results and some having fell short of their targets.

Results: Steve Cable - 2hr53m00s; Mark Champion - 2hr56m00s; Derek George - 3hr08m00s; Sally Whitelaw - 3hr30m08s; Jon Gurney - 3hr32m19s; Mel Moore - 4hr02m00s; Robeert Standing - 4hr28m00s; Vicky Goodchild - 4hr30m00s; Judy Bain - 4hr34m00s; Gillian Calliste - 4hr55m00s; Debbie Tyler - 5hr05m56s; Maty Penfold (dressed as a gorilla) - 5hr05m56s; Mark Caller - 5hr10m17s and Claire Reed - 5hr11m00s.

Timings are not final and accurate placings are not yet available.
