EIGHT members from Istead & Ifield took part in last weekend's Thanet 20-mile race from Richborough to North Foreland.
Most of the I&I contingent are training for the London Marathon, and the first three put in times good enough to beat three hours on the day with more training to be done.
Results: 14th - Mark Champion 2hr10m23s; 16th - Steve Cable 2hr10m48s; 30th -Derek George 2hr17m01s; 70th - Alan Cowan 2hr30m05s; 138th - Lynne
Champion 2hr42m40s; 367th - Debbie Tyler 3hr33m10s; 368th - Mary Penfold 3hr33m10s and Jeannette Giles 3hr51m28s.
Elsewhere, two runners from the club took part in the extremely tough Steyning Stinger Marathon along the South Downs near Brighton.
Ray Pearce is a regular at this race finishing near the top every time and this year he timed 3hr38m20s ahead of club colleague Claire Gaskill in 4hr15m05s.
Ian Drew did the half marathon version of the race, his first run out for a couple of years.
Very tentatively, he came in 170th out of 183 in 4hr15m30s.
