Former Leyton Orient man Ebou Adams has secured a shock move to National League rivals Ebbsfleet United.

The O’s were dealt a blow last week when they confirmed that they had missed out on a permanent move for Adams, having been in talks for almost two months, with director of football Martin Ling believing that the midfielder was destined for a move to a Football League club.

Adams did have interest from both Football League and National League sides, the Guardian Series understands, however, the midfielder has now signed for Ebbsfleet, although no information on the length of his contract has been confirmed.

The young midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Brisbane Road from Norwich City and impressed during his time with the O’s with his energetic performances in midfield.

He made 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring once against Gateshead in the FA Trophy, a strike which was named as Orient’s Goal-of-the-Season.

However, Adams was released by Norwich at the end of the campaign upon the expiry of his contract and despite the best efforts of Orient, the 22-year-old has now joined Ebbsfleet, who reached the National League Play-Off semi-finals last season.

Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon told the club’s website: “He’s (Adams) had similar or better offers elsewhere but he likes what he’s seen here. He thinks we’re progressive as a club. He’s coming to us because he’s looked at our squad and how we performed last season and he thinks he’ll be a good fit. I think he’ll be a big player for us.”
