Charlton are resilient under Lee Bowyer
Charlton would've lost this game two months ago. But their shaky defending and tendency to concede late goals seem to be a thing of the past now.
Rovers’ goal came from a Jason Pearce error, but before and after his poorly placed header, the Addicks never looked troubled.
Even when the hosts started to pile on the pressure in the second-half, Patrick Bauer and co stood tall.
Ben Reeves is hitting form at the right time
Charlton have finally got the MK Dons Ben Reeves playing. It was another dazzling display from the reborn midfielder at the Memorial Stadium.
His successive away goal brought the Addicks level, and he was so good with the ball in the final third.
Reeves’ impressive form has come at a great time for Charlton, who will need their new star man for the remaining six games.
Sullay Kaikai shows glimpses of quality - but needs to do more
Filling in for the injured Tariqe Fosu, who is set to miss the next two weeks with a groin injury, Kaikai put in his best display in a Charlton shirt.
He looked lively in certain stages of the game, but drifted in and out of it too often. He should’ve passed to Nicky Ajose instead of shooting on goal in the fourth minute.
Charlton need him to start showing his Shrewsbury form NOW… especially during Fosu’s absence.
It’s a point gained more than two dropped
Third-placed Shrewsbury are the only club to beat Bristol Rovers on their own patch this year.
The Gas’ home record is strong - and despite creating the better chances - Charlton shouldn't be too disheartened with the draw.
It will be an even better point if they beat AFC Wimbledon tomorrow. That is a huge game, which could see them go three points clear of seventh-placed Portsmouth.
Rotation is likely against AFC Wimbledon
With Jay Dasilva a doubt and Ahmed Kashi ruled out of the trip to Kingsmeadow, Bowyer has slightly less options to choose from.
But Josh Magennis, Ezri Konsa and Stephy Mavididi will be pushing for starts. Michal Zyro, Nicky Ajose and Anfernee Dijksteel have not played regular first-team football this season, while Kaikai has failed to impress.
Whatever team Bowyer puts out, on paper, it should be beating relegation-threatened Wimbledon.
