Millwall have been linked with a stunning move to sign former star Tim Cahill.

The Australia midfielder is a free agent after leaving Melbourne City last month.

Cahill, 38, is a cult hero at the Den after coming through the ranks to make over 200 appearances. His goals helped the club reach the 2004 FA Cup final.

The ex-Everton man is looking for a new club to boost his World Cup hopes this summer.

And the Herald Sun reports that Millwall are considering a deal to bring him back to south London.

The Lions have strong midfield options, but Cahill could play as a second striker to support Lee Gregory or Steve Morison.

Den boss Neil Harris wants to bring in attacking reinforcements this month, and Cahill could be the answer.

He scored 57 goals during his six-year spell with Millwall before moving to Everton in 2004.
