Ryan Tunnicliffe has revealed he rejected other clubs to join Millwall in the summer.

Tunnicliffe, 24, signed a two-year deal with the Lions just a week before the start of the season after leaving Fulham.

And the former Manchester United midfielder, who scored his first Millwall goal in their 2-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday, says Den chief Neil Harris was a deciding factor in his move to SE16.

Tunnicliffe said: “I had a few [offers]. A few people were saying they were interested. But I met with the gaffer here and he sold the club to me.

“I’ve never had it where the manager has met me and done a presentation on me and how Millwall like to play. It made me feel wanted.

“And I came out of that meeting and said to my agent ‘that’s somewhere I’d love to play, especially under the boss.’”

Tunnicliffe has had to bide his time for a starting berth due to the impressive form of central midfielders Shaun Williams and George Saville.

But he has started the last three games after Williams suffered a serious knee injury against Reading last month.

And after being frozen out at Fulham last season, Tunnicliffe wants to become a first-team regular at the Den.

He added: “I’ve had a stop-start career. In the first few years, I was settled at Fulham and then the manager [Kit Symons] got sacked.

“I was playing every week under [current Fulham manager] Slavisa Jokanovic at the back end of one season and then at the start of the new season my face didn't fit for one reason or another.

“So it was time to move on and that’s what I did. I want to play every game I can be involved in.

“Hopefully I can get a good run of games and show my qualities at Millwall.

“It's lovely - it's a nice and easy club to settle in to. It’s a family club. The crowd is so passionate about Millwall.

“It’s predominantly a British group so as soon as you walk through the door, everyone makes you feel welcome. It’s easy to get on with your job.”
