Charlton coach Jason Euell believes Everton starlet Ademola Lookman will be “frustrated” with his playing time.

Euell worked with Lookman in Charlton’s academy and helped develop the youngster.

The England Under-21 forward made the step-up to the Addicks first-team and became their star man, before sealing an £11m move to Everton in January.

Since scoring on his Toffees debut against Manchester City, Lookman has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in Ronald Koeman’s team.

He is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, and has only featured in cup games.

But Charlton U23 boss Euell wants Lookman, 19, to enjoy working with Everton’s international stars - and thinks the Europa League could present first-team opportunities for him.

He told News Shopper: “He’s at a club, similar to ours, that have brought young players through and know how to handle them.

“You’ve got to look at the difference of where Everton are as a Premier League club. Their U23s won their league last year. Everton are in the Europa League, so there are a lot of games available for him.

“There would be frustration of not playing. But when you make a move from a small club like ours to a Premier League club, you have to enjoy the ride.

“You have to take on board that you’re working with international players and you’re working with a manager in Koeman who has shown that he is a good manager.

“I don’t need to give him advice, I think he can get that from all the players he’s working with every day and from the manager.”
