Neil Harris slammed his Millwall players after their ‘unacceptable’ 4-3 defeat to Ipswich on Tuesday night.

Joe Garner cancelled out Jed Wallace’s opener, before Aiden O’Brien did the same to Martyn Waghorn. But Waghorn, who was on loan with the Lions in 2013, netted just before the break to give Ipswich a 3-2 lead.

And Tom Elliott looked to have done enough to earn Millwall a deserved point after equalising in the 80th minute, but Jordan Spence’s header won it for Ipswich late on.

Harris said: “It’s not a good enough performance, it’s unacceptable. We scored three goals and let four in. We've given them four goals.

“There were key moments in the game, we’re one-nil up after 45 seconds, and yes the goalkeeper should save it, it’s a horrendous error.

“The second and third goal, we gave the ball away cheaply and they punished us. The fourth goal was the icing on the cake.

“We’re back at 3-3, there’s two minutes to go at the Den, we give the ball away cheaply, give a silly free-kick away on the box and I’ve not got the professionalism in my group or the leadership in my group to defend a free-kick.

“It’s a really poor goal to concede against a non-physical side. I haven't got the professionalism in my group to defend it.”

Garner’s fourth-minute equaliser was gifted to him by Jordan Archer, who palmed the ball into his own net.

Harris added: “He should've saved it. That’s what he's in the goal for.

“We've been excellent defensively, we’ve been outstanding. But against Ipswich, for whatever reason players played their own game and I've seen it before. Just like at Rochdale last year when we drew 3-3.

“We should've been winning this game tonight.”
